What Is Accelerated TMS?

Accelerated TMS is an advanced form of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation that involves multiple sessions administered daily over five days. It uses the same FDA-cleared technology as standard TMS but at a higher daily intensity with personalized brain targeting, leading to faster and often stronger antidepressant results. Traditional TMS has been proven effective since 2008, but it requires 6 weeks of treatment. The SAINT protocol, developed at Stanford, is the most validated accelerated treatment approach, using targeted brain mapping and intensive sessions to achieve similar outcomes in just days. At Advanced Psychiatry, experienced clinicians now offer this faster, precision-based treatment option.

Is Accelerated TMS Right for You?
  • Have you tried antidepressant medications without finding sufficient relief?

  • Do your symptoms continue to interfere with work, relationships, or daily life?

  • Are you unable to commit to a 6-week daily treatment schedule?
  • Are you looking for a faster, drug-free, non-invasive approach to depression?

  • Have you previously tried standard TMS with limited results?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, accelerated TMS may be worth exploring. Take our self-assessment or call our office to find out if this is the right fit for you.

Don't let depression hold you back any longer.

Clinically Proven and FDA-Cleared

TMS has been FDA-cleared since 2008 as a safe and effective treatment for depression. While antidepressant medications have helped many people since the 1980s, they don’t work for everyone. TMS is different—it’s not a medication. Instead, it uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.

Views of Nature

Accelerated TMS is both safe and effective.

Data from the Stanford SAINT clinical trials  published in the American Journal of Psychiatry (Cole et al., 2020 & 2022)

90 %

79 %

90% of participants experienced symptom relief in the original open-label SAINT study (Cole et al., Am J Psychiatry, 2020)

79% remission rate in the double-blind, sham-controlled SNT trial vs. 13% in the sham group (Cole et al., Am J Psychiatry, 2022)

60 %

60% of patients remained in remission one month after completing the 5-day protocol
(Cole et al., Am Psychiatry, 2020).

5 days for a full treatment course, compared to 6 weeks for standard TMS (SAINT Protocol).

02

Mapping

Before your first TMS treatment begins, we’ll complete a process called mapping. This step helps us pinpoint the exact location on your scalp and determine the right magnet strength for your unique needs. Your Provider will gently position the TMS coil and make small adjustments while monitoring your responses. This ensures your treatment is precisely targeted for the best possible results.

03

Treatment

During treatment, the coil will deliver gentle magnetic pulses to the targeted area of your brain, stimulating the nerve cells involved in mood regulation. You will feel a light tapping sensation on your scalp.

When your session ends, you can get right back to your day there’s no downtime or recovery period needed. Most patients drive themselves home or return to work immediately after. You may notice gradual improvements in mood and energy over the course of your treatment plan, and your Provider will check in regularly to track your progress and make any necessary adjustments.
