What is TMS?

TMS stands for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. It is drug-free, non-invasive and FDA approved. The treatment involves placing a helmet on the patient’s head which then sends magnetic pulses to underactive parts of the brain that control mood and contribute to depression. Advanced Psychiatry utilizes Deep TMS which has shown to improve depression, OCD, and other conditions. Deep TMS has been tested in over 60 clinical trials worldwide. It can help patients who have not responded well to medications, or to a combination of psychotherapy and medication.

Don't let depression hold you back

Clinically Proven and FDA-Approved

TMS has been FDA-approved since 2008 as a safe and effective treatment for depression. While antidepressant medications have helped many people since the 1980s, they don’t work for everyone. TMS is different—it’s not a medication. Instead, it uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.

Views of Nature

TMS is both safe and effective.

82% of patients who completed TMS therapy
experience measurable depression relief.

65% of patients who completed TMS therapy

experience full remission of their

depression symptoms.

FIRST TREATMENT

A Comfortable, Personalized Experience

Your first TMS treatment session begins with mapping, which allows us to identify the area of the brain to be stimulated. This initial session, including mapping, takes about 45 minutes. Subsequent sessions last about 20 minutes. During treatment, magnetic pulses stimulate the area of the brain involved in mood regulation while you relax in a comfortable chair. You can return to your normal activities immediately afterward and may drive yourself to and from appointments.

02

Mapping

Before your first TMS treatment begins, we’ll complete a process called mapping. This step helps us pinpoint the exact location on your scalp and determine the right magnet strength for your unique needs. Your Provider will gently position the TMS coil and make small adjustments while monitoring your responses. This ensures your treatment is precisely targeted for the best possible results.

03

Treatment

During treatment, the coil will deliver gentle magnetic pulses to the targeted area of your brain, stimulating the nerve cells involved in mood regulation. You will feel a light tapping sensation on your scalp.

You may notice gradual improvements in mood and energy over the course of your treatment plan, and your Provider will check in regularly to track your progress and make any necessary adjustments.
